About The Position

Pure Paws Veterinary Care of Hudson Square is hiring a part-time and full-time Veterinary Assistant to work with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to provide animal care and customer service. The clinic is a full-service, modern animal hospital serving SoHo, the West Village, Tribeca, and NYU neighborhoods of New York City. It provides personalized care and wellness plans, using diagnostic tools such as digital radiography and ultrasound for services including routine exams, dental care, surgery, and in-house laboratory testing. The team emphasizes preventive medicine, client education, and long-term relationships with patients and their families.

The position offers full-time and part-time hours. The current schedule is Monday and Friday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM, and Saturday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM, with an opportunity to grow into a full-time role. Pay is $21–$30 per hour, based on skills, experience, and qualifications.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of veterinary assistant experience.
• Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
• Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
• Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
• Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
• Perform basic laboratory tests, including collecting blood, urine, and stool samples.
• Administer medications and vaccinations under the supervision of a veterinarian.
• Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed.
• Maintain accurate medical records.
• Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits.
• Clean and maintain the clinic, including stocking supplies and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment.
