About The Position

This position involves instructing and assisting year-four professional veterinary students. It also requires maintaining equipment and supplies inventory in clinical areas. The primary responsibility is to provide high quality veterinary technical assistance within the Field Services department of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH).

Requirements

• High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
• Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)
• Veterinary Technician Specialist recognized by NAVTA; or have credentials in specialty that VTH defines as meriting recognition
• Five years of experience as Veterinary Technician Specialist recognized by NAVTA; or have credentials in specialty that VTH defines as meriting recognition
• Experience in restraint of small and large animals
• Experience in administering injections
• Experience in placement of IV (peripheral, central, and urinary) catheters
• Knowledge of equipment used within VTH including: personal computer, telephone, copy machine, laser, video endoscope, diagnostic lab equipment, camera/video camera, electrodiagnostic equipment
• Physically capable of lifting animals weighing 80 pounds or greater onto exam tables and into elevated cages

Nice To Haves

• Associate's Veterinary Technology degree
• Ability to perform assigned tasks independently with minimal supervision
