About The Position
Jackson Creek Animal Hospital, located in Peterborough, ON., is currently welcoming a customer service-focused Veterinary Assistant, Receptionist to join our clinic. This full-time opportunity includes a range of responsibilities that directly contribute to the efficient and effective daily operation of the hospital. Your primary responsibility is to ensure our clients and their pets feel welcomed, expertly cared for, and appreciated!

- Veterinary Assistant (VA) or Veterinary Assistant Office Administration (VAOA) program certificate is an asset
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinary staff with various tasks and treatments
- Create a warm, positive, compassionate atmosphere for our clients and patients
- Willingness to learn more regarding pet nutrition, veterinary services, and updated medical office procedures
- General housekeeping duties; cleanliness of reception area, pet holding areas, and common areas
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and adapt to changing situations
- Take initiative and work independently
- Excellent customer service skills; a real aptitude for putting pets and pet parents at ease and creating a welcoming environment
- Ability to answer a multiline phone system and track and book appointments effectively
- Placing outbound calls to pet parents for follow-up and future appointment bookings
- Respond and manage email correspondence; clients, referring veterinarians & internal office messages
- Scheduling appointments
- Admitting and discharging pet patients
- Invoicing/billing; creating estimates, obtaining pet owner confirmation and processing payments
