About The Position

Jefferson Animal Hospital and Regional Emergency Center is a 24/day 365 day/year AAHA Certified animal hospital dedicated to saving lives every day. We handle a wide range of emergency cases, from trauma to various illnesses, providing compassionate care and support to pets and their owners. Our team works closely to deliver these services, assisting pet owners in understanding their pets' conditions and treatment options, including end-of-life care. The role involves working directly with veterinarians to triage and treat emergencies, provide wellness care, and educate pet owners. We adhere to the high standards set by the American Animal Hospital Association and encourage staff to work to their full potential.

Requirements

  • Full Time and Part Time Assistants and Licensed Veterinary Technicians.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced emergency environment.
  • Ability to work evening hours (e.g., 3p-11p, 4p-MN, 5p-1am).
  • One weekend day per week is required.
  • One summer holiday and two winter holidays per year are required.
  • Starting pay based on experience: $16-$22 per hour for assistants, up to $23 per hour for assistants with advanced experience, and a higher potential for LVTs with Emergency experience.

  • Overnight opportunities available after training.
  • 10 and 12-hour shift options available after initial training.
  • Experience in emergency veterinary care for LVT's.

Responsibilities

  • Triage and treat pet emergencies and provide wellness care.
  • Provide care and support to pets and their owners during emergencies.
  • Educate pet owners regarding all aspects of care.
  • Assist Doctors with examinations, diagnoses, and treatments.
  • Perform blood draws, IV catheter placements, and positioning for digital radiographs.
  • Monitor anesthesia.
  • Perform all necessary treatments.
  • Learn and grow by working with colleagues of varying experience levels.
