About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Lafayette, CO is hiring for their Oncology Department. This role is for individuals who love helping animals and thrive in a fast-paced environment. The Oncology service handles a variety of cases, from routine to complex medical oncology. The ideal candidate will have skills in obtaining lab samples, administering SQ and IM injections, patient handling, client communication, and maintaining equipment/instruments. The position also involves restraining animals, cleaning kennels, and providing outstanding customer service. The candidate should be self-motivated, hard-working, and a team player. Familiarity with Cornerstone software is a plus. This is a full-time position with potentially varying hours.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
  • Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
  • Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
  • Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
  • Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
  • Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.
  • Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
