About The Position

Madison Veterinary Specialists is seeking a full-time Oncology Veterinary Assistant to join their large, state-of-the-art 24-hour Specialty and Emergency Small Animal Hospital. This role is for individuals looking to advance their career in the veterinary field and work with dedicated, highly skilled professionals. The hospital is an accredited member of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) and is the only privately veterinary-owned Specialty & Emergency hospital in the state. Their veterinarians are Board Certified in Oncology, Ophthalmology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Neurology, and Dermatology. They are dedicated to their clients, community, the veterinary profession, and their team.

Requirements

  • Greater than 1 year of experience working in veterinary specialty and emergency as a veterinary assistant.
  • Experience working with Infinity / Impromed software.
  • Must have the strength and stamina to work on feet throughout shift and lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Must be capable of safely working in an environment with potential exposure to hazardous materials, infectious and zoonotic diseases.
  • Must have a strong sense of helping clients and caring for animals.
  • Ability to assist with emergency or critical-care patients as needed.
  • Proficient with veterinary terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service to clients and their pets in an effective, efficient, and friendly manner.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, ensuring they feel cared for and respected, by working with team members.
  • Multi-task and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Provide excellent telephone communication, actively listening to clients to ensure they feel understood.
  • Utilize time management skills to recognize and complete tasks in a timely manner to maintain service efficiency.
  • Set up and assist with procedures.
  • Set up and assist with advanced imaging procedures (Radiology, CT).
  • Clean and maintain all oncologic equipment.
  • Perform patient discharge and client education.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Oncology Certified/Licensed Technician.
  • Maintain strict confidence regarding client and patient information.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
