Partner Veterinary is looking for an Oncology Veterinary Assistant to join our Richmond, VA team! Additionally, Partner Veterinary has a dedicated Learning and Development Department, to help assistants achieve your professional goals, supported by two veterinary technician specialists (VTS) Heather Carter and Christine Weaver. Partner Veterinary provides Veterinary Assistants with tuition support to an accredited Veterinary Technician program and mentorship to pass the VTNE. To set you up for success from day 1, We gift you a wellness week of PTO after your first 90 days in your new position! This includes 30-40 hours of extra PTO dependent upon your schedule. What does your day look like at Partner? Partner Veterinary is seeking a Veterinary Assistant for our Oncology service who is excited to leverage their specialized skills to care for patients and families combating cancer. The Oncology Veterinary Assistant is able to practice at the height of their skills. This is achieved through exhibiting knowledge in diagnostic procedures, tumor classifications/terminology, and, most importantly, recognizing the needs of our patients and clients. These needs range from compassionate care and communication for our clients to delivering analgesics and nutritional support to our patients.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year veterinary experience in a specialty environment.
  • Knowledge and dedication to high standard and fear-free patient care practices.
  • Strong communication skills to enable respectful and successful lines of communication among team members.
  • Adaptability in various learning strategies and keen interest to continuing to develop as a technician and team member.
  • Ability to quickly process, analyze, and react to unplanned and emergent medical situations without delay, so as to ensure the safety of team members and patients.
  • Ability to stand for up to 12 hours with limited breaks.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs without assistance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Oncology preferred.
