About The Position

This position provides clinical and patient care support within the Cardiology service, assisting with outpatient appointments, diagnostic procedures, and overall workflow coordination. Responsibilities include patient handling and restraint, preparation for exams and procedures, basic monitoring, cleaning and stocking of clinical areas, and support for faculty, house officers, technicians, and students. The role also contributes to teaching and supporting student learning in the clinical setting and assists with administrative tasks related to appointment coordination and patient flow. They play a key role in maintaining efficient case flow, supporting high-quality patient care, and ensuring the service can meet increasing caseload demands.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a veterinary setting, with familiarity in animal handling, client communication, and basic lab techniques.

  • Experience supporting outpatient appointments and/or specialty service workflow
  • Experience training or mentoring others, including students, interns, or residents.
  • Experience working with cardiac veterinary patients in general or specialty practice, including familiarity with handling and supporting diagnostics or procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare cardiology patients and clinical spaces for outpatient exams, diagnostics, and procedures.
  • Assist with safe patient handling, restraint, positioning, and transport throughout the hospital.
  • Provide hands-on support during cardiology diagnostics and procedures, including ECGs, echocardiograms, and other cardiac assessments.
  • Support clinicians and technicians during appointments to ensure efficient workflow, accurate patient monitoring, and patient comfort.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, equipment readiness, and infection control standards in cardiology clinical and procedural areas.
  • Assist with scheduling coordination, patient flow, and appointment logistics to support daily clinic operations.
  • Order, stock, and organize clinical and procedural supplies to ensure service readiness.
  • Support veterinary students, interns, and residents by assisting with patient handling and reinforcing basic cardiology-related clinical skills.
