About The Position
BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant to join their Critical Care department in Kirkland, WA! This role involves providing nursing care to patients according to hospital standards, reporting patient information during nursing rounds, understanding and administering medications, performing phlebotomy and physical exams, and possessing knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment. The Veterinary Assistant will also remain current on CPR guidelines and assist with patients as assigned.

Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
- Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
- Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
- Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
- Perform phlebotomy.
- Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
- Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.
- Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
- Perform diagnostics (radiographs, labwork, etc).
- Set up patients in ICU or Inpatient ward.
- Discharge patients.
- Handle client communication.
