About The Position

SAGE San Francisco is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our Cardiology team. You'll work alongside specialty veterinary professionals caring for patients with cardiovascular conditions while gaining hands-on experience with advanced cardiac diagnostics and specialty medicine. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Veterinary Assistant or Specialty Veterinary Assistant looking to expand their skills in cardiology, ECG, echocardiography, anesthesia, and advanced patient care.

Requirements

• Two or more years of hands-on veterinary clinical experience strongly preferred.
• Strong animal handling, restraint, venipuncture, and patient monitoring skills.
• Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative specialty hospital.
• California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) required within 60 days of hire, if applicable.

Nice To Haves

• Cardiology, Specialty, Emergency, or Internal Medicine experience is a plus but not required.
• Experience with ECG, blood pressure monitoring, radiographs, or other cardiac diagnostics is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Cardiology appointments, patient intake, medical histories, and patient care.
• Support cardiac diagnostics including ECGs, blood pressure measurements, radiographs, echocardiograms, and Holter monitoring.
• Perform venipuncture, assist with IV catheter placement, and prepare laboratory samples.
• Safely restrain, position, and monitor patients during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Prepare equipment, supplies, and treatment areas for Cardiology procedures.
• Maintain accurate medical records and communicate with clients regarding patient care.
• Collaborate with Cardiology, Emergency, and Specialty teams to provide exceptional patient care.
