About The Position

Boulevard Animal Hospital in Shelby, North Carolina, is seeking a small animal or mixed practice veterinarian. The veterinarian may focus on dogs and cats or work across companion animals, horses, and small ruminants. The hospital’s caseload is approximately 85% small animal, 14% large animal, and 1% exotic, with horses and small ruminants comprising most of the large-animal work. The practice is predominantly walk-in, also offers scheduled wellness appointments, and has a high surgical volume and an active canine reproduction caseload. The hospital has seven exam rooms; a spacious treatment area connected to the pharmacy and exam rooms; dedicated surgery, isolation, and radiology areas; ultrasound, digital and mobile digital radiography, dental radiography, and in-house CBC, chemistry, and urinalysis capabilities. Equine dental equipment includes a power float and AlumiSpec. The average caseload is approximately 15 patients per doctor per day, with a 2:1 technician/assistant-to-doctor ratio and four credentialed technicians on staff. The team welcomes veterinarians at different career stages. New graduates can learn from two certified veterinary mentors in the practice, supported by the team’s experience mentoring five new graduates over the past decade. Veterinarians can develop their skills, pursue their interests, and work alongside experienced colleagues.

Responsibilities

Provide veterinary care in small animal medicine or mixed animal practice, as aligned with the veterinarian’s interests.
Treat companion animals and, for mixed-practice work, horses and small ruminants.
Provide care in a predominantly walk-in practice that also offers scheduled wellness appointments.
Participate in the practice’s high-volume surgical caseload and canine reproduction caseload as applicable.
