About The Position

B.W. Furlong & Associates is seeking an experienced equine veterinarian for a full-time, emergency-focused ambulatory role serving Hunterdon County, New Jersey, and surrounding areas. The position is based at the practice’s hospital in Oldwick and provides rapid-response emergency and critical care to horses. Emergency coverage is shared with ambulatory associates. The schedule includes two extended shifts per week, from 4 p.m. to 8 a.m., and one to two weekends per month. The veterinarian will conduct examinations, diagnostics, and treatments in the field for emergencies including colic, lameness, lacerations, and dystocia. The role also involves building relationships with equine owners and referring veterinarians, maintaining medical records and client communications, managing the assigned vehicle, and promoting emergency services in the community and among referring practices. B.W. Furlong & Associates is an equine veterinary practice founded in 1982. It has 22 veterinarians and more than 60 support staff and technicians, with facilities and ambulatory services in New Jersey and Florida. The practice is planning to move its New Jersey operations to a new facility, tentatively opening in January 2027. The facility is planned to include more than 30 stalls, two surgery suites, imaging equipment, a reproduction lab, isolation facilities, a covered lameness-evaluation arena, and a rehabilitation facility. The practice describes its approach as collaborative and committed to world-class care, supporting colleagues, and doing what is right.
