About The Position

Care-Pets Animal Hospital and Wellness Center, founded in 1987, is a growing practice that moved to its current, spacious facility in October 2001. The facility was designed with the comfort of patients, clients, and staff in mind, featuring a spacious lobby, four exam rooms, a surgery suite, radiology, and a lab. The practice welcomes veterinarians of all experience levels and is looking for individuals with an interest in client communication, dentistry, and surgery. They handle a varied caseload of small animal, avian, and pocket pets and recognize Fear Free tools and protocols. The support staff consists of experienced technicians and veterinary assistants, contributing to a fun and laid-back work environment. Doctors and the support team collaborate in a modern, well-kept facility equipped with 4 exam rooms, separate surgery and dental suites, a class IV laser, digital radiography, and dental radiography. Both full-time and part-time positions are available for those seeking a new opportunity with a supportive staff.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
  • Appropriate state licensure.
  • Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
  • Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
  • Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
  • Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
  • Maintain patients’ medical records.
  • Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.
