About The Position

Texoma Veterinary Hospital in Sherman, Texas is seeking an experienced veterinarian to join their growing team. This position offers the opportunity to practice general veterinary medicine with a focus on advanced diagnostics and complex medical cases, going beyond the basics of a traditional GP setting. The hospital is AAHA-accredited and equipped with advanced diagnostic tools such as CT imaging, ultrasound, digital radiography, and an in-house laboratory. The role is ideal for a veterinarian who enjoys internal medicine, diagnostics, and thorough case management, with opportunities to utilize advanced technology and collaborate with an experienced medical team. This position is being added due to practice growth, not to replace a departing doctor.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
  • Appropriate state licensure.
  • Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.
  • Already has some clinical experience under their belt and is comfortable practicing independently.
  • Curious, engaged in your cases, and excited by the opportunity to practice medicine beyond routine GP.

Responsibilities

  • Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
  • Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
  • Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
  • Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
  • Maintain patients’ medical records.
  • Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.
