About The Position

Animal Clinic Inc. is a small animal practice serving Iowa City and surrounding communities with over 57 years of combined experience. We pride ourselves on being thoughtful, high-touch, educating, and family-oriented practitioners. We offer industry-leading wellness care and have experience with all types of conditions and treatments. Our clinic is equipped with a full in-house laboratory, ultrasound, digital radiology, surgical laser, therapy laser, and acupuncture. We are seeking a full-time Veterinarian (DVM) to join our supportive and growing team. We are looking for a compassionate, motivated doctor who enjoys collaboration, values strong client relationships, and practices high-quality, evidence-based medicine. This role offers an excellent balance of autonomy, mentorship, and work-life balance.

Requirements

Active DVM license in good standing (or ability to obtain)
DVM/VMD degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
Appropriate state licensure.
Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.

Nice To Haves

2+ years of clinical experience preferred
surgical experience a plus

Responsibilities

Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
Maintain patients’ medical records.
Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.
