About The Position
Heartstrings Pet Hospice is hiring veterinarians to provide compassionate in-home hospice and euthanasia care in Charlotte, North Carolina, and surrounding communities. The privately and family-owned organization emphasizes professional independence, meaningful medicine, and support from a team that coordinates appointments, families, and aftercare. Hospice experience is not required; onboarding and support are provided as veterinarians transition into end-of-life care. The position is available on 2-, 3-, 4-, and 5-day schedules, including self-managed flexible scheduling opportunities, with compensation prorated for agreed schedules. Four-day positions start at $110,000 annually, and five-day positions offer a $135,000 annual base salary, with additional quarterly performance-based bonus opportunities. Benefits vary by position and eligibility.
Requirements
- DVM, VMD, or equivalent veterinary degree.
- Active North Carolina veterinary license or eligibility to obtain one.
- Valid driver's license.
- Compassionate approach and commitment to exceptional end-of-life care.
- Availability consistent with the position's schedule, including some weekends.
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate in-home hospice care for pets.
- Provide peaceful euthanasia care and support families during end-of-life appointments.
- Practice veterinary medicine with professional autonomy.
- Coordinate with the support team for appointments, families, and aftercare.
