About The Position

BluePearl Specialty + Emergency Pet Hospital Maitland (formerly Affiliated Veterinary Specialists [AVS]) is a multi-specialty, referral-only hospital located near Orlando, Florida. AVS was founded in 1992 and has expanded to a 22,000 square foot hospital offering a wide variety of diagnostics and therapeutic modalities. Our most recent expansion of our hospital was completed in early 2018, at which time, an additional wing of the hospital was added for the Neurology service, and the MRI was upgraded to a 1.5 Tesla magnet. At BluePearl Maitland, we have a busy and diverse caseload encompassing surgery, internal medicine, neurology, daytime emergency, medical and surgical oncology, dentistry, radiology, and physical rehabilitation. We provide 24-hour care to our hospitalized patients. However, our hospital is only open from 7 AM to 6 PM Monday through Friday for specialty consults and emergencies. Emergency cases are only seen during business hours. However, our hospital has a strong working relationship with a local emergency clinic to allow for the transfer of emergencies seen after hours. Additionally, although our hospital does not directly provide these services, next door are independently owned veterinary ophthalmology and dermatology practices, which offer consultations to our patients. Our hospital has a very busy caseload of over 30,000 cases per year. Advanced diagnostics available include flexible and rigid endoscopy (rhinoscopy, bronchoscopy, cystoscopy, gastroduodenoscopy, colonoscopy, laparoscopy, and arthroscopy), blood pressure monitoring, EMG/nerve conduction, and evoked potential capabilities. Our Radiology service provides the most efficient and advanced imaging capabilities, including in-house ultrasound, color flow Doppler echocardiography, 64-slice helical CT scanner, 1.5T MRI, fixed table fluoroscopy, nuclear medicine, and radioactive iodine therapy. A full-service Antech commercial laboratory is located off-site, providing rapid and extensive laboratory diagnostics for our patients. We also have in-house lab equipment for evaluation of blood work, CSF taps, and rapid culture. An on-site or remote radiologist is also available to interpret radiographs, ultrasounds, and advanced imaging. Our team of over 140 personnel includes board-certified specialists in surgery, internal medicine, neurology, oncology, radiology, physical rehabilitation, and dentistry.
