The primary purpose and function of the Locum Veterinarian is to provide preventative care, diagnosis and treatment of diseases and injuries of Pets. This role ensures the safety of Pets, clients, and associates by utilizing safe restraining techniques, following standard protocols, and maintaining clean treatment areas. The Locum Veterinarian will obtain relevant information from clients, maintain medical records, educate clients on preventative care and Pet health, and provide professional, efficient, and exceptional service. This includes prescribing and administering preventative care, diagnosing and treating diseases and injuries, and effectively communicating diagnosis and treatment plans to the veterinary medical team and clients. The role also ensures compliance with local, state, and federal laws, including proper maintenance of controlled substance inventory logs, and understanding state guidelines regarding the duties of veterinary assistants and licensed veterinary technicians.
