About The Position

The Veterans Transition Program is a six-month program designed to support veterans in transitioning from military life to the civilian workforce at BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager. Participants will join teams, gain an understanding of BlackRock's operations, receive training and mentorship, and get exposure to senior leaders. Upon successful completion, participants will be offered permanent employment. The program includes an orientation covering BlackRock's principles, mission, purpose, and culture, followed by on-the-job learning with a focus on the Aladdin technology. The role is within the Technology & Development Operations (TDO) team, which is part of Platform Enablement. TDO focuses on scaling execution, modernizing platforms, and accelerating delivery in partnership with Aladdin Engineering. The team works at the intersection of business process, technology, and delivery, identifying workflow challenges and building tools and automations to improve efficiency and resilience across core operating platforms. The Associate Application Engineer will design, develop, and deliver technical solutions for workflow challenges, requiring a deep understanding of Business Operations and Client Services functions.

Requirements

Minimum of 2 years of Active Uniformed service
<5 years of civilian work experience
Bachelor’s degree obtained pre- or post-military service
4+ years of experience in a Business Analyst or Developer role
Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Java, Python)
Strong SQL and database knowledge.
Understanding of machine learning models, including large language models (LLMs) and other neural networks.
Familiarity with NLP techniques and tools such as sentiment analysis, named entity recognition, and topic modeling.
Experience using Agile methodologies – previous experience working from a backlog, sprints, retrospectives etc.
Interest in the investment management industry and investment products

Nice To Haves

Exposure in developing and implementing AI-based solutions preferred.
Experience with cloud-based machine learning platforms such as Azure Machine Learning a plus.
Familiarity with Robotic Process Automation (RPA), e.g., Blue Prism.
Familiarity with data visualization tools, e.g., Splunk, Tableau, Power BI.

Design, develop, and deliver technical solutions, including AI-based models, that will help the organization scale.
Work with stakeholders to identify areas where technology can be leveraged to improve business processes.
Make autonomous decisions on which solutions best fit the business problem presented.
Test and validate AI models to ensure that they are accurate and aligned with the organization’s strategic goals.
Play a key role in growing the core offering of the Aladdin Compliance and Accounting platforms.
Drive engagement with partners to ensure that proper business requirements are established.
Build relationships with other internal technology teams to ensure familiarity with all potential AI-based solutions while also holding them accountable for capturing and measuring business benefits.
