About The Position

The Veterans Transition Program-Client Service Associate is a six-month program designed to support veterans in transitioning from military life to the civilian workforce at BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager. Participants will join teams, gain an understanding of BlackRock's client service operations, receive training and mentorship, and get exposure to senior leaders. Upon successful completion, participants will be offered permanent employment. The program includes an orientation covering BlackRock's principles, mission, purpose, and culture, followed by on-the-job learning within a team, utilizing industry-leading technology like Aladdin. The Client Experience (CX) organization aims to simplify client interactions, with the Client Experience Management (CEM) team specifically responsible for overseeing client servicing, developing service solutions, and enhancing the client experience.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of Active Uniformed service
  • <5 years of civilian work experience
  • Bachelor’s degree obtained pre- or post-military service
  • Strong grasp of Microsoft Office applications
  • Technical skills that allow multitasking across multiple programs
  • Ability to efficiently handle deadlines and work independently for routine client projects
  • Interest in the financial services/investment industry and a desire to learn, both independently and in group settings
  • Self-starter who knows when to raise issues as appropriate
  • Ability to work as part of a collaborative team and assume additional responsibilities as needed
  • Ability to evaluate process inefficiencies, identify and implement business operational improvements, and resolve issues
  • Innovative problem-solving capabilities and ability to think and act quickly and creatively
  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • 5+ years of experience in financial services field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with Consultant Firms and mutual clients to resolve operational client issues and escalate complex matters to internal partners.
  • Support senior members of CEM in all aspects of client service, with the encouragement to progress rapidly and take on independent Consulting Firm coverage.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to generate Requests for Proposal (RFP) responses by researching operational data.
  • Build relationships, foster connectivity, and manage expectations with clients.
  • Navigate BlackRock to develop solutions for service challenges, making the firm accessible to clients.
  • Drive the agenda on client experience, ensuring transparency and execution in client communications.
  • Participate in regulatory, platform, and client-related projects.
  • Own the client service experience and manage responsibilities related to implementation impact on client arrangements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of client deliverables (invoices, reporting, price files, data, etc.) by working cross-functionally and establishing internal relationships.
  • Address new operational requests (e.g., changes to client reports) and provide summary completion notifications to partners.
  • Identify, remediate, and perform root cause analysis of Operating Events impacting client experience, and develop long-term process failure mitigation approaches.
