About The Position

The Oregon Department of Veterans' Affairs (ODVA) is seeking a Veteran Suicide Prevention Coordinator to advance Oregon's veteran suicide prevention efforts through strategic partnerships, evidence-based programming, and grant administration. This is an opportunity to collaborate and work alongside federal, state, Tribal, county, and community partners to strengthen systems of care and improve outcomes for service members, veterans and their families. The Oregon Department of Veterans’ Affairs has one (1) full-time opportunity available for a Program Analyst 3 (Veterans Suicide Prevention Coordinator) located at ODVA Headquarters in Salem, Oregon. Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, or a degree related to the agency program that demonstrates the capacity for the knowledge and skills; and four years’ experience coordinating or administering a program OR; Any combination of experience or education equivalent to seven years of experience that typically supports the knowledge and skill requirements listed for the classification.
• Behavioral health or mental health programs
• Suicide prevention or crisis intervention initiatives
• Public health program development and community outreach
• Working with service members, veterans and families (SMVF)
• Building cross-sector partnerships and coalitions
• Grant development, administration, and monitoring
• Program management and evaluation
• Using data and evidence-based practices to improve outcomes
• Successful completion of a fingerprint based criminal history background check through the Oregon (LEDS) and National (NCIC) law enforcement data systems.
• A valid Oregon or Washington State driver’s license is required; must also undergo a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check, with ongoing monitoring as a condition of continued employment.

Responsibilities

• Build and strengthen partnerships with federal, state, and Tribal governments, non-profits, and other community organizations focused on reducing stigma, and improving access to suicide prevention resources.
• Coordinate statewide outreach, education, and behavioral health and suicide prevention messaging and campaign.
• Represent ODVA on national and state veteran suicide prevention committees.
• Serve as the co-lead, with the Oregon Health Authority on the Governor’s Challenge to Prevent Suicide Among Military Members, Veterans, and Their Families.
• Collect and analyze data and implement evidence-based strategies to improve program outcomes.
• Develop, evaluate, and enhance suicide prevention programs and services.
• Develop, administer and monitor statewide veteran suicide prevention grant programs.
• Track program performance, evaluate outcomes, and recommend continuous improvements.
