Requirements

One year as a Veterans Services Specialist, DMVA (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
Five years of experience in analyzing and determining individuals' eligibility for public benefits or services programs
One year of experience in analyzing and determining individuals' eligibility for public benefits or services programs and a bachelor's degree in human services, business administration, public administration, or a related field
An equivalent combination of experience and training
Possess a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial class C driver's license or equivalent
Possess valid accreditation by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as a veterans service officer or eligibility for accreditation within one year from the date of employment
Reside in or be willing to relocate to the Region 5 area to support these counties due to travel within the region at least 3 days per week. Region 5 area covers the following counties: Berks, Bucks, Chester, Dauphin, Delaware, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton, Philadelphia, Schuylkill, and York.
Possess a valid federal or state-issued photo ID and pass a favorable NCIC screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap
Be able to perform essential job functions

Completion of a period of military service in a branch of the United States Armed Forces and separation under honorable conditions
Experience with veterans benefits and services programs
Experience in identifying available or potential resources that can provide veterans with services
Experience using data to determine benefits eligibility
Experience identifying and promoting veteran benefits and services to the public, community partners, and federal, state, and local providers through formal or informal meetings, events, consultations, and speaking engagements
Willingness to travel which may require overnight stays on short notice
Experience in marketing and planning shows and working with exhibitions

Responsibilities

Manage veteran claims by preparing applications, gathering evidence, and reviewing decisions
Guide veterans and beneficiaries through state and federal benefits processes
Travel within the region to conduct outreach, attend events, and collaborate with partners
Share information through multiple channels and speak to groups about veterans programs
Maintain accurate databases, update materials, and assist with program development
Provide guidance on issues that impact veterans in the assigned region
