About The Position

The Veterans Service Representative (VSR) works in a Veterans Service Center (VSC) or Pension Management Center (PMC). The VSR explains VA benefit programs and entitlement criteria; reviews claims materials; identifies issues; gathers relevant evidence; conducts interviews; adjudicates claims; and enters data needed to generate award and notification letters explaining decisions to veterans. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, with a scheduled workday of 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Honolulu Standard Time. The tour will be determined after final selections and may change based on program needs. Compressed or flexible scheduling is not available. The role is eligible only for situational, case-by-case telework with supervisory approval; employees must report to the official duty station each scheduled workday. This is not a virtual position. The position has a GS-07/09/10 grade progression. Promotion to the full performance level may occur without further competition when regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met; selection at a lower grade does not guarantee promotion. Employees must complete an eight-week training session, which may require travel, and VSR Skill Certification is required at the GS-10 level. A one-year probationary period applies. The position is primarily office-based, with occasional travel possible for training, meetings, or customer interactions.
