About The Position

The Veterans Certifying Official serves as a liaison between student veteran beneficiaries and the Department of Veterans Affairs, Vocational Rehabilitation, Veteran Service Organizations, university financial aid, and business offices. This role disseminates information regarding Federal, State, and University financial resources available to current and prospective VA applicants and beneficiaries.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1 to 3 years of experience
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time and stay focused
  • Extremely organized with a strong attention to detail
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Able to follow directions in the moment, under pressure, with a smile
  • Uncompromising ethical conduct and convictions
  • Maintain a professional image at all times through actions and appearance

Responsibilities

  • Initiate benefit certifications within the VA system and resolve discrepancies with the VA, along with researching and reconciling financial payments.
  • Serve as the initial contact for prospective students, provide program specifics and financial breakdowns, and connect students to appropriate counseling resources.
  • Monitor each beneficiary’s academic record for compliance with VA rules and regulations, and prepare/maintain student files for DVA compliance and inspection.
  • Generate statistical reports in preparation for executive decisions and assist with the daily oversight of VA work-study students.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by the Director of Veteran Services.
