About The Position

Established in 1970, Boley Centers, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization serving individuals with mental disabilities, individuals and families who are homeless, Veterans and youth in Pinellas County. Boley Centers, Inc., a nationally recognized and accredited behavioral health care agency, has an opening for a part-time Veteran Support Specialist.

Requirements

High school diploma/GED equivalency required.
Minimum of one year of responsible work experience, preferably involving interactions with veterans/military.
Valid Florida driver's license, own vehicle and proof of auto insurance required.
Must pass a Level 2 background check and drug screen.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of recovery model, counseling techniques, verbal crisis intervention and mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist the Recovery Team with assessing strengths and needs of veterans in the program by directly observing/teaching skills.
Assist with recovery plans that seek to restore a veteran’s functioning in key roles in life such as work, family and community.
Communicate veterans' needs to the Team and report unusual events, activities and incidents to supervisor or appropriate Team member.
Assist veterans to access resources in the community such as recreational activities, work, medical, dental, etc.
Mentor veterans in role recovery activities such as symptom management, relapse prevention, stress reduction and work readiness.
Directly transport and teach public transportation to veterans to support independence.
