About The Position

The Port of Seattle is committed to assisting military personnel departing active-duty service transition to civilian employment. The Veteran's Fellowship Program is designed to provide short term (6 months) employment that will assist veterans selected for the program in identifying transferable skills, exposure to a civilian work environment, career assistance, exposure to corporate business practices, mentoring, and resume and interview assistance. This facility support role will provide operational assistance to the facilities team while offering exposure to container/cruise terminal management practices. This position will be responsible for updating and maintaining property and asset information, supporting the coordination and follow-up work requests, and assisting with documentation to ensure accurate records and timely communication. The role is designed to build knowledge of container /cruise terminal processes while contributing to the smooth execution of day-to-day facility operations.

Requirements

  • A minimum of three (3) years of active duty or mobilized reserve duty service in a branch of the U.S. Military Service (which includes the United States Coast Guard).
  • Documentation of an honorable discharge from active or reserve status must be presented as part of the application process.
  • Veterans Fellowship applicants must be within twenty-four (24) months of discharge to apply for a fellowship unless they have not worked full-time since their discharge and have been a full-time student in a degree or certification program since their discharge.

Responsibilities

  • Support facility managers in the day-to-day coordination of facility operations, ensuring smooth and efficient workflows across terminal environments.
  • Update and maintain accurate records related to property, assets, and maintenance activities to ensure data integrity and support informed decision-making.
  • Monitor, document, and facilitate follow-up actions for work requests to ensure timely and effective resolution of maintenance and operational issues.
  • Assist with facility inspections, documentation, and reporting to support regulatory compliance and internal operational standards.
  • Gain hands-on experience with container and cruise terminal processes, building foundational knowledge of facility workflows, safety protocols, and industry best practices.
  • Learning and performing other duties as assigned.
