About The Position

The Veteran Services Program Manager will oversee Goodwill’s Military & Veteran Services Program, which provides support services to transitioning Veterans and their families with the goal of achieving job placement, retention, and long-term financial stability. This role involves collaborating and leveraging strategic partnerships in the community to assist clients in securing employment. The Veteran Services Program Manager will also develop and grow the program to maintain high-quality services based on best practices and research. Responsibilities include program and fund management, contract administration, and supervision of staff. The manager will focus on being a champion of Anti-racism, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (AEDI) as part of their leadership. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Social Services field (e.g., Psychology, Social Work) required; equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Extensive experience in managing and leading teams
  • Proven experience in program implementation, budgeting, and interpreting and fulfilling funding requirements
  • In-depth understanding of the barriers faced by Veterans in employment and social integration
  • Experience in case management
  • Must be able to get clearance to access Joint Base Lewis-McChord upon hire
  • Exceptional analytical, judgment, decision-making and communications skills
  • Superior coaching, leadership and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build understanding and consensus
  • Ability to read and interpret hard data and metrics
  • Ability to write creatively and articulately with an emphasis on tact and diplomacy
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and average
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra when working on spreadsheets
  • Ability to create and manage departmental budget
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of Veteran Services Program Manager
  • Washington State Driver’s License and proof of insurance required
  • Reliable vehicle, insurance, and acceptable driving record required
  • Must be able to travel throughout the community during business hours
  • Self-motivated; resourceful, creative; high integrity; problem solver; looks to resolve issues; positive can-do approach; and ability to build effective working relationships

Nice To Haves

  • Veteran status (Active Duty, Guard, Reserve, or prior service) or military spouse status strongly preferred
  • Non-profit experience is highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee the Veteran Services Programs such as: Boots to Shoes (mentoring program for Veterans), Veterans Van for Digital Literacy (remote career readiness and digital skills training), Work Experience Program (case management and career support)
  • Develop and implement a sustained, results-driven strategy to improve and track long-term employment outcomes for Veterans
  • Oversee the development of strategic partnerships within the private sector, nonprofit sector, and government agencies to foster placements and work experience opportunities (occasional travel required)
  • Establish and maintain relationships with individuals and groups at Joint Base Lewis-McChord and other local military installations (occasional travel required)
  • Oversee and train staff regarding enrollment procedures, assessments, creating individual employment plans, data entry methods for case notes in our case management system (CaseWorthy), and providing direction in resolving participant issues/concerns
  • Establish standard processes to help staff stay connected, share best practices, exchange lessons learned, and support one another in daily operations
  • Attend the Veteran Services meetings with relevant agencies
  • Responsible for coordinating and collaborating across different GORR Workforce Development teams
