About The Position

The YWCA Greater Harrisburg is looking for an energetic and compassionate Veteran Resource Development Specialist to help veterans overcome barriers, find meaningful employment, and build long-term career success. In this part-time role, you'll work directly with veterans to explore career goals, develop job opportunities, connect with employers, and provide ongoing support after employment. You'll also build relationships with local businesses, community partners, and veteran-serving organizations to create pathways to sustainable employment. This could be a great fit for someone looking for meaningful part-time work with a flexible schedule—including parents who need the flexibility to get their children on and off the school bus.

Requirements

  • At least two years’ experience in interviewing, assessing, and hiring individuals.
  • Experience with drug and alcohol or mental health services.
  • Valid Driver’s license, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation.
  • FBI, Child Abuse, and State Police Clearances.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred degree in Human Services fields of study including but not limited to, Mental Health or Addictions, Social Work, Psychology, or in a Business field of study, including to but not limited to, Human Resource Management, Business, or Management.
  • Veteran status preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Connect with veterans in the community, including those experiencing homelessness, to build relationships and connect them with employment services.
  • Help veterans identify career goals, skills, interests, and employment opportunities.
  • Develop relationships with local employers and industry partners to create job opportunities and hiring pipelines.
  • Connect veterans with apprenticeships, training programs, education, and in-demand career pathways.
  • Provide ongoing support to help veterans overcome workplace barriers and maintain employment.
  • Connect veterans with resources related to housing, transportation, childcare, healthcare, benefits, and other supportive services.
  • Partner with veteran-serving organizations, CareerLink, employers, workforce agencies, and community service providers to build strong systems of support.
  • Assist veterans with goal setting, budgeting, financial stability, and long-term career planning.
  • Maintain accurate client records and complete required documentation and reports.
  • Attend community events, veteran outreach events, and team meetings as needed.
