About The Position

The Veteran Peer Support Specialist provides outreach, peer support coordination, advocacy, and community engagement services to Veterans and their families throughout Steuben County. The Veteran Peer Support Specialist is responsible for developing and maintaining a county-wide veteran peer network that reduces isolation, connects veterans to services and promotes wellness through peer-to-peer support. They will serve as the primary local facilitator for the Joseph P. Dwyer Veteran Peer Support Project and work collaboratively with county agencies, veteran's organizations, community partners and volunteers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Military service sufficient to understand military culture is required.
  • Must have a current, valid NYS driver's license that meets Agency guidelines.
  • Must meet the requirements of the School Age Care, Day Care, and/or Mental Health Regulations regarding a State Central Register Clearance regarding history of abuse/maltreatment of children and Criminal History Review for criminal convictions.
