Requirements

  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Six (6) months experience working as a caregiver preferred
  • Able to work independently to meet the physical, emotional and intellectual needs of adults
  • Able to work flexible, varied hours in multiple locations
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if applicable)
  • Motor vehicle record background check
  • Auto insurance (Agency limits apply if driving client)
  • State criminal record background check

Responsibilities

  • Provide protective oversight for assigned individual.
  • Provide assistance with personal care as needed, as well as reminders and simple assistance for activities such as eating and taking medications.
  • Follow service plan designed by the supervisor, including but not limited to duties such as light housekeeping and grocery shopping.
  • Encourage consumer toward self-reliance.
  • Transport individuals as assigned, or as needed to follow the service plan.
  • Accept responsibility for compliance with all policies, procedures and service requirements of Easterseals, including responsibility as a mandated reporter of any consumer abuse and/or neglect.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisor, attending supervisory meeting as required.
  • Complete three (3) one-hour professional development courses annually (does not apply to Care Provider – Family Members or Care Providers-VIP).
  • Demonstrate ability to receive supervision from multiple supervisors and when appropriate to cooperate with the consumer, primary caregiver and family.
  • Understand and respect the confidentiality of the consumer and family and maintain standards of professionalism at all times.
  • Follow protocols and procedures for emergency situations.
  • Complete necessary paperwork and documents as required
