About The Position

Provide comprehensive career development, employment services, and individualized support to veterans and individuals facing barriers to employment. Assist participants through assessment, career planning, job placement, retention, and career advancement while building strong partnerships with employers, workforce agencies, veteran affiliations, and other community organizations. Work as part of a team to meet quarterly goals for HVRP grant compliance. Collaborate with internal staff, workforce partners, employers, veteran affiliations, and other community agencies to support veteran participants in achieving long-term employment, self-sufficiency, and career success.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Possess a valid state driver's license with an insurable driving record.
  • Have reliable transportation to travel throughout the service area.
  • Ability to pass required background screening and other pre-employment requirements.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English to effectively communicate and complete required documentation.
  • Ability to work a typical Monday-Friday schedule with occasional evening or weekend activities.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Human Services, Social Work, Counseling, Workforce Development, Business Rehabilitation, Education) required; or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
  • Four years of directly related experience may substitute for the required bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in workforce development, employment services, career counseling, vocational rehabilitation, case management, employer engagement, recruiting, staffing, job placement, or a closely related field required.
  • Valid state driver's license with insurable driving record.
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to obtain required program certifications or database access as needed.
  • The employee regularly: Sits, stands, walks, bends, reaches, and uses hands for computer work.
  • Communicates effectively in person, electronically, and by telephone.
  • Travels throughout the service area.
  • Frequently lifts up to 10 pounds.
  • Occasionally lifts up to 30 pounds.
  • Uses close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with veterans, individuals experiencing homelessness, justice-involved individuals, or other underserved populations preferred.
  • Experience providing career coaching, facilitating workshops or employment readiness training, and assisting individuals with job search, placement, and retention preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct participant intake, eligibility determination, assessments, orientation, and employment readiness evaluations.
  • Develop individualized employment and career plans based on participant strengths, interests, skills, and goals.
  • Provide career coaching, employment counseling, and ongoing case management.
  • Assist participants in overcoming employment barriers through supportive services and referrals to community resources, including housing, transportation, healthcare, education, childcare, veteran benefits, behavioral health, and financial assistance.
  • Assist participants with resumes, cover letters, online applications, interview preparation, career exploration, employment documentation, and job search strategies.
  • Prepare participants for interviews and accompany them to interviews or employer meetings when appropriate.
  • Support participants in identifying education, training, certifications, apprenticeships, and career pathway opportunities.
  • Maintain regular follow-up with participants to promote successful employment, retention, and career advancement in accordance with program requirements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employers, workforce partners, educational institutions, veteran organizations, and community agencies.
  • Conduct employer outreach through business visits, networking, hiring events, job fairs, and community engagement.
  • Match participant qualifications with employer hiring needs and coordinate job placement, internships, work experience, and on-the-job training opportunities.
  • Maintain knowledge of labor market trends, employment opportunities, and workforce resources.
  • Advocate for participants when appropriate and assist employers in supporting successful employment outcomes.
  • Promote workforce development programs and services throughout the community.
  • Facilitate workshops, orientations, career readiness classes, and presentations for individuals and groups.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential participant records, case notes, assessments, employment plans, referrals, placements, and follow-up documentation.
  • Prepare reports and documentation required by organizational, grant, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor participant progress and program outcomes, including enrollment, placement, retention, wages, and credential attainment.
  • Collaborate with internal staff and community partners to coordinate participant services and participate in case staffing meetings.
  • Assist with outreach, recruitment, hiring events, program coverage, and other departmental responsibilities.
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, cultural competence, and compliance with agency policies, safety practices, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Operate computers, Microsoft Office, databases, and virtual meeting platforms required to perform assigned duties.
  • Travel throughout the service area and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Abide by Goodwill policies, procedures, performance expectations, and applicable state and federal guidelines.
