About The Position

Cary Grove Animal Hospital is has an immediate opening for a highly motivated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Part-Time Veterinary Assistant. We are a 4 doctor veterinary practice dedicated to providing exceptional care to our animal patients and exceptional service to their owners. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about animals and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. Veterinary Assistants are expected to have excellent communication skills, be reliable, efficient, maintain a professional appearance, and work in a team setting. Wage range will depend on skill set and experience. Licensed veterinary technicians also encouraged to apply. The position we are looking to fill is for helping with outpatient services. Interacting with clients and their pets is a large part of the position: Loading them into exam rooms, getting patient histories, educating on wellness services (vaccines, heartworm, etc), explaining treatment plans and estimates, follow up calls to see how patients are doing, and going over medications. Technical proficiency desired in, but not limited to: administering subcutaneous injections and fluids, blood draws, IV catheter placement, radiograph positioning, general drug knowledge, knowledge of vaccines and preventative medications, animal restraint, wrapping surgical packs, reading fecal/urine/ear cytologies, and general lab sample preparation. Hospital cleaning is required of all staff. We are willing to train the right candidates if they are not proficient in all of the above yet. Our hospital is well equipped with digital medical records, full in house lab, digital radiographs, digital dental radiographs, ultrasound, advanced surgical monitoring, TonoVet, Class 4 therapy laser, and more. Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a Veterinary Assistant or completion of a related training program.
  • Experience with medical record keeping and familiarity with veterinary software systems.
  • Knowledge of common animal diseases, medications, and treatment protocols.
  • Ability to perform basic laboratory tasks such as sample collection and processing.
