Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience operating push boats with twin outboard motors specifically with barge fleeting or transport.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather/field conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, exposure to mechanical parts, wet and/or humid conditions, high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock and vibration, and loud noise levels.
  • Commitment to following safety standards and protocols.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Safely navigate the push boat and tow (barges) through inland waterways.
  • Execute precise "pushing" and "pulling" maneuvers to assemble, move, and secure barges for loading and unloading.
  • Lead and direct deckhand in the proper wiring, lashing, and rigging of barges.
  • Ensure crew member follows company safety protocols, including the proper use of PPE and PFDs.
  • Mentor junior crew members on marine safety and line-handling techniques.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs, including fuel consumption, engine hours, and production.
  • Perform daily boat inspection, check engine oil, and keep boat free of debris and tripping hazards.
