About The Position

E-Typist, Inc. is seeking experienced verbatim transcriptionists for a contracted, fully remote position. This role involves transcribing court proceedings, trials, and depositions from audio recordings with a strict verbatim format. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, possesses strong transcription skills, and thrives in a challenging environment. This position offers the flexibility to set your own working hours while meeting specific turnaround times.

Requirements

Proven experience in transcribing court proceedings, trials, and depositions with adherence to court formatting rules.
Ability to distinguish and format Q&A and colloquy format.
Competence in using transcription software and Microsoft Office.
Willingness to undergo a skills assessment test to evaluate abilities.
Able to transcribe a minimum of 1.5-2 hours of audio per day.
Windows 10 or 11 operating system.
Microsoft Office 365 software.
For the Record (transcription software).
Express Scribe (transcription software).
Strong and reliable internet connection.
Transcription foot pedal.
High-quality transcription headphones.

Nice To Haves

Experience transcribing large jury trials is a plus.
AAERT certification receives premier consideration.

Responsibilities

Transcribe court proceedings, trials, and depositions from audio recordings with precision.
Accurately identify speakers and capture all spoken content in verbatim format.
Apply quality assurance measures to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with court formatting rules.
Demonstrate understanding of legal terminologies, colloquy, and court-specific language.
Manage 1-3 day turnaround times, allowing a minimum of 1 day per 1 hour of assigned audio.
Meet deadlines consistently while maintaining accuracy.
