About The Position

The City of Peoria Parks & Recreation Department is seeking a motivated and creative Venue Coordinator to join the team at the Rio Vista Recreation Center, a dynamic and vibrant community hub. This facility offers a wide range of recreational programs and activities for all ages, with a strong focus on fostering a healthy, active, and inclusive environment. The ideal candidate will support daily operations while helping enhance community engagement and program delivery. As a Venue Coordinator at Rio Vista, you will supervise day-to-day operations while planning, coordinating, and implementing a variety of recreational programs and events. You will collaborate with the Recreation Supervisor and team to meet community needs, supervise and train part-time staff, and oversee all fitness components of the recreation center, including instructors. This role also supports department-wide efforts such as marketing campaigns, community events, and Spring Training operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation in any field or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years of recreation or related experience required.
  • Broad knowledge of complex systems, specialized practices, equipment, and operational procedures.
  • Experience in facility management and conflict resolution.
  • Progressive experience with supervising staff, instructors, and volunteers.
  • Marketing experience to promote programs, events, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous supervisory experience with full-time and part-time staff.
  • A degree in Parks and Recreation.
  • Previous event management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally with clients and customers.
  • Experience in a municipal or government setting.

Responsibilities
