About The Position

PTT’s Vision is to deliver a World Class Mobility Evaluation Service through On-Time Delivery of Objective Quality Results and Conclusions. Reporting to the Supervisor, Vehicle Testing, the Vehicle Testing Technician is responsible for performing accurate and reliable chassis dynamometer emissions testing and vehicle evaluations. This role ensures that all testing activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established test procedures to meet customer requirements. Additionally, the Technician works collaboratively as part of a team to deliver high‑quality and meet project milestones.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an Associate degree (or higher) in an Automotive discipline/Trade School Certificate, or the equivalent of at least 3 years work experience in a related technical field (previous Toyota internships will be considered).
  • Must have experience in vehicle/vehicle component testing/repair/diagnostics.
  • Strong understanding of key vehicle control systems including Electrical (12v and High Voltage) OBD, EFI, and Emissions controls and CAN bus communication.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite Products (Excel, Power Point, Word, Outlook, TEAMS).
  • Must be willing to work an average of 5 hours of overtime per week, with occasional weekend hours contingent on business needs.
  • Must have the ability to travel up to 10% (domestic and international) and work alternative shifts as required.
  • Must be able to work the 2nd shift schedule, Monday through Friday, 2pm-10:30pm EDT.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional automotive repair experience (i.e. Dealer experience. ASE certification (Engine Performance, Brakes, Suspension).
  • Automotive Testing experience (Chassis and Engine Dyno).
  • Fabrication experience (Mig and Tig welding).
  • Prior experience of industry standard Operations Management, Quality Management processes.
  • Prior expertise with Federal/State emissions regulations (CFR).
  • Prior knowledge or experience of OEM tools for Software and data acquisition (i.e. Panel 4, TS Writer, GTS+).
  • Battery electric vehicle/ Fuel Cell electric vehicle experience.
  • Must be proficient in oral and written communications.
  • Strong safety and collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that both Test Execution and Data Quality is delivered through adherence to test standards and processes such as (Safety, Regulatory, Operational, Maintenance) and by understanding what is test-critical in advance.
  • Ensuring Timely Delivery of Data/Results through adherence to test scheduling and work request details.
  • Executing planned work to meet customers and test deadlines.
  • Ensuring Resource Usage and Test Costs are understood/managed through open communication with supervisor/manager, proper allocation of work hours and OT management.
  • Self-development/Role Modelling – via coaching and mentoring, develop Safety Mindset, Quality Compliance, Schedule Adherence, Problem Solving, Toyota Way, Process Ownership, and Fiscal Responsibility and demonstrate these in daily work.
  • Continually improving existing processes (Kaizen) and supporting new process/capability development through activities such as Job Safety Analysis, regular post-project reflection, standardized process development (JKK) problem solving (TBP), and team member development activities. (such as QCC).
  • Ensuring transparent and timely communications to all Internal Customers (incl TM’s, shift leaders and PT Management), and External Customers (PT Engineering Depts).
  • Regular reporting of daily/weekly activities, issues impacting test schedule, test cell utilization, and safety observations (incl. incident reporting, potential hazards, and safety recognition).
