About The Position

Air Inuit is seeking an experienced Vehicle Mechanic to perform maintenance on their fleet of ground vehicles at their northern bases. This role is crucial for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of vehicles, ramp equipment, and forklift trucks in the demanding environment of Nunavik. The position involves diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues, establishing preventive maintenance plans, and maintaining a safe work area. The mechanic will work on a rotational schedule and must be flexible and ready to travel throughout the Nunavik network.

Requirements

  • Accredited Vehicle Technician’s Diploma
  • 5+ years of general mechanic experience with gasoline and diesel vehicles
  • Ability to work on electrical equipment (Forklift) will be an asset
  • Hold a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work safely and autonomously
  • Professional and reserved attitude and behavior
  • Ability for teamwork
  • Sense of initiative and organization as well as adaptability to planning change with resourcefulness
  • Ability to communicate in at least two of the following languages: Inuktitut, French, English
  • Rotational position on the network in Nunavik, must be flexible and ready to travel
  • Diploma of vocational studies in automotive mechanics or equivalent work experience

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, identify problems and repair the fleet of vehicles, ramp equipment and forklift trucks in Nunavik
  • Accurately record the details of the work done and keep records
  • Establish a preventive maintenance plan, schedule parts orders and maintain inventory
  • Proactive follow-ups on the condition of vehicles, proper use of vehicles at stations, safe mechanical condition, and submission of reports
  • Keep a work area safe and tidy
  • Carry out any other tasks necessary and required by the company
