About The Position

The Vehicle Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a diverse fleet of mountain operational equipment. This includes snowcats, snowmobiles, buses, plow trucks, sanding trucks, 4x4 pickups, and heavy machinery. A strong understanding of gasoline and diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, and hydrostatic drive systems is essential. The position supports the grooming operations vital to Mission Ridge’s ski product and requires a hands-on, safety-conscious, and collaborative individual.

Requirements

• A minimum of two years of on-the-job mechanical experience is required.
• Basic technical training in automotive or heavy equipment repair is strongly preferred.
• Applicants should have basic computer and office skills or the willingness to learn them as part of the role.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems using hand, power, and specialized tools.
• Must maintain a friendly attitude and assist with occasional minor guest vehicle issues.
• Strong communication skills are required for working closely with grooming staff and equipment operators.
• Candidates must be able to lift or move objects weighing 100 pounds or more safely.
• Good vision—including color recognition, peripheral vision, and depth perception—is essential for diagnosing and completing mechanical tasks.
• The role requires solving practical problems in a hands-on setting and occasionally working in uncomfortable conditions such as dark, cold, snowy, muddy, hot, dusty, or greasy environments.

Nice To Haves

• Basic metalworking and fabrication skills are helpful for in-house repairs.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular maintenance on all Mission Ridge operational vehicles and machinery.
• Work with all mountain departments to ensure equipment readiness.
• Identify and repair reported and observed mechanical issues.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment at all times.
