About The Position

This position involves inspecting, repairing, servicing, and maintaining gasoline, diesel, and electronically operated mobile plant equipment. The role includes changing, repairing, and servicing batteries and tires. The Truck Maintainer will inspect, remove, repair, and replace parts as necessary for maintenance of equipment, working from blueprints and diagrams. This role requires exercising considerable latitude in determining priorities, scheduling work, and securing parts from the most economical source, consulting usage histories via CRT parts catalogs, calling vendors, and purchasing materials within established limits. The position also involves repairing, maintaining, painting, charging, removing, and replacing electric storage batteries, testing equipment after repairs to check proper operation, and performing limited welding as required. Additionally, the role includes body and fender work and painting on vehicles, lubricating, washing, steam cleaning, and servicing plant mobile equipment and parts, gasoline, diesel, and electric. Accurate records of all work performed must be kept via CRT terminals and/or standardized forms. The position requires performing duties with a minimum of supervision due to a thorough knowledge of the principles of internal combustion and diesel engines and electrical/electronic equipment. The employee must keep the work area in a clean and orderly condition and comply with all safety, quality, and environmental regulations. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring a pre-employment drug and alcohol screen that includes marijuana.

Requirements

  • 3 years' experience in all phases of repair on gas, diesel and electric mobile equipment.
  • Trouble shooting and repair of motors, hydraulics, brake systems, fuel injection systems, electronic controls and electric motor repair.
  • Be willing to work shifts, weekends, holidays and rotating schedules, if necessary.
  • Computerized electronic test equipment, hose-making machine, CRT terminal, overhead cranes, hoists, jacks, welding and cutting equipment, grinders, sanders, hydraulic tire press, battery chargers, voltmeter, hand and power tools, standarized forms, etc.
