About The Position

Copper Mountain Resort is seeking a Vehicle Maintenance Technician Level 3 for a year-round full-time position. This role is responsible for performing preventive maintenance inspections (PMI), troubleshooting, failure analysis, and repairs on the resort's fleet, which includes trucks, vans, buses, and snowcats. The goal is to ensure maximum safe vehicle availability for the resort. The technician will work with hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems, as well as light truck and van computer systems. They will also be responsible for accurate record-keeping, staying updated on new maintenance technologies, and maintaining a clean work area. This position may involve leadership responsibilities for junior staff and requires acting as an ambassador for Copper Mountain's culture.

Requirements

  • High School Education or equivalent
  • Must have the ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Must possess the ability to handle multiple tasks at one time.
  • Accurate verbal and written communication skills, understanding and the ability to read and write the English language.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must have valid US Driver’s License
  • Must have a Commercial Driver’s License Class B with P2 endorsement or ability to obtain within designated time frame.
  • Must have bottom rollaway box and tool to perform major PMI’s and repairs on fleet, (excluding “specialty tools”).
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • This position may require the use of a mountain radio/walkie-talkies for communication

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to operate all types of fleet equipment.
  • Five to ten years in the Vehicle Maintenance field or three to six years with a certificate of completion in an Automotive Diesel Technology school with a minimum of 1000 clock hours.
  • Knowledge and expertise in the following areas: hydraulics, electrical, electrical over hydraulics, gas and diesel engine systems, computerized engine control systems, drive train, chassis, body repair, basic welding, fuel systems, air systems and schematic drawings.
  • This position may require the use of a mountain radio/walkie-talkies for communication

Responsibilities

  • Performs PMI’s and resulting repairs in accordance with Powdr Copper Mountain’s Vehicle Maintenance’s guidelines and standards on fleet including trucks, vans, transportation equipment and snowcats.
  • Troubleshoots, analyzes, repairs, designs, modifies and completes failure analyses on fleet vehicles including, but not limited to, trucks, vans and snowcats.
  • Reads and interprets hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic system schematics.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs electrical systems, hydrostatic drive systems, and hydraulic systems.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs light truck and van computer systems, i.e. emissions, airbags, antilock brakes, etc.
  • Communicates effectively in order to train co-workers in all maintenance areas of operation.
  • Operates all fleet vehicles in order to evaluate the results of previously performed maintenance.
  • Accurate and precise recording of daily activities on work orders, indirect labor logs, parts requisitions.
  • Consults manuals, trade publications, trade associations, vendors, fellow employees, outside schools and training programs in order to stay updated in new maintenance technologies.
  • Accountable for the cleanliness of the work area in order to provide for a safe environment.
  • Responsible for management in one or more of the following areas: tires; paint and body; welding; fuel inventory; lube supplies/hazardous materials; general Shop equipment; and hydraulics.
  • Assist in the training of Powdr Copper Mountain personnel in the operation of equipment, to include vehicle check-out procedures, equipment use and safety.
  • Perform minor welding/fabrication projects to include the use of machine shop tools.
  • Assist in the running of the day-to-day operation of the Shop as required.
  • Functions as an ambassador of Copper Mountain, modeling and sharing the Copper “culture” with our guests and employees.
  • Upholds the most professional image.
  • Continually strives to exceed our guest’s expectations and create memories for our guests and staff.
  • Periodically required to be responsible for Vehicle Maintenance personnel.
  • Provide leadership for assigned junior members of the staff in the absence of the Foreman or Manager.
