About The Position

Roadrunner Vehicle Inspectors (RVI) is the fastest growing independent vehicle inspection company in the country, with over 15 years of experience servicing auto auctions and dealerships across North America. Our inspectors, sometimes known as CR Writers, are independent 1099 contractors paid per vehicle inspected. We are known for being high volume vehicle inspectors, servicing vehicles primarily located on a single lot at each assignment. This efficient model allows for productive days and maximized earning potential. Our inspectors' average wages range from $72,000 - $125,000 annually, equivalent to an hourly average of $35-$60 or $1400-$2400 per week if production goals are met. Earnings are based on efficiency and proficiency with a handheld device.

Requirements

  • Must be able to start work within 14 days of the interview.
  • Dependable and reliable, able to show up on time for assignments.
  • Attention to detail and focus on quality and accuracy of inspections.
  • Ability to complete a minimum of 20-25 inspections per day (after training and assessment period).
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to follow all applicable safety and health guidelines.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and get under vehicles to inspect for damage.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs (e.g., jump boxes).
  • Valid driver's license and a good driving record.
  • Authorization to work in the United States of America.
  • Successful background and drug test required.

Nice To Haves

  • N.A.A.A. structural expert (training provided).
  • 2-3 years of paint/body experience or insurance adjusting experience is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Perform digital inspections (electronic condition reports or CR) for each vehicle at assigned facilities, such as car auctions or occasional retail sites.
  • Document the vehicle's condition, including interior, exterior, trunk area, engine compartment, and undercarriage, using drop-down menus and text entry.
  • Correctly identify and document vehicle details such as trim series, options, color, and mileage using drop-down menus or text entry.
  • Take overall photos of the vehicle's interior and exterior, as well as photos of damages, undercarriage, odometer, and keys using a provided electronic device.
