About The Position

Lemon Squad, a Wrench Inc. company, is hiring mobile independent contractor inspectors in most U.S. cities. Inspectors perform technical mechanical inspections of vehicles before purchase, for warranty purposes, or to assess mechanical condition, and evaluate each vehicle’s overall safety and physical condition. The work may cover cars, trucks, motorcycles, RVs, boats, and other vehicles. This is a 1099 contract role paid at a flat rate per inspection. Jobs typically pay $70–$100 per inspection, with most inspections taking less than an hour; inspections of exotics, classics, RVs, boats, and similar vehicles may take longer and pay more. Contractors set their own schedules and work areas, negotiate their rates, and choose which jobs to accept.

Requirements

At least 2 years of automotive experience.
Detail-oriented and dependable.
Reliable transportation.
Ability to use a cell phone and computer.
Good customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to walk, bend, stoop, or stand to complete tasks.
Available during daylight hours and able to complete assignments within a 48-hour window.
Supply personal equipment and tools, including a tire tread gauge, code reader or OBD II scanner, a magnet or paint thickness gauge, and a cell phone or camera that takes photos.
Valid state driver's license for the state where working, current vehicle insurance and registration, and commercial automotive insurance.
Access to a computer with a printer.
