About The Position

The purpose of this class within the organization is to perform installation of equipment including lighting systems, video cameras, traffic radar unit, electronic sirens, and mobile data terminals. Essential Functions Perform vehicle Up-fitting services including public safety and public works vehicles; Installation and removal of all equipment; Install and troubleshoot in-car camera systems, mobile data terminals, and mobile radio systems; Document all services rendered and parts used on Service Ticket for all installations or removals done; Perform related duties as required.

Requirements

Completion of a high school diploma or the equivalent with an additional two years of experience in the repair and maintenance of mechanical and/or electrical equipment
Valid Current Driver’s License
No Class B Misdemeanor convictions within last 10 years
No Class A Misdemeanor, Felony Convictions or Family Violence Conviction

Nice To Haves

Installation of Emergency Lighting a PLUS
General knowledge of two-way radio theory and operation is a PLUS

Responsibilities

Perform vehicle Up-fitting services including public safety and public works vehicles
Installation and removal of all equipment

Document all services rendered and parts used on Service Ticket for all installations or removals done
Perform related duties as required
Communicate well with others
Vehicle repairs, retrofitting and upgrading
Complete all required paperwork (service orders, work logs, timecards, etc.)
Inventory and sale of surplus equipment
Maintain an orderly and clean working environment, keeping the shop organized
Obtain Law Enforcement Vehicle Technician Level Certification
Educate people on the use of equipment
Answer field service calls as needed
Attend to customer needs whenever required
