As a LifeWise vehicle driver, you will provide safe and reliable transportation for public school students to and from the LifeWise site. The ideal candidate is responsible and punctual and has a clean driving record. This is a part-time, non-exempt (hourly) position. Applicants should apply on the program's webpage. Candidates must have a mature personal Christian faith in agreement with the “What We Believe” section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith and actively participate in and be committed to a local church whose doctrine aligns with it. Drivers must hold a regular driver's license and have been continuously licensed for the past three years. A commercial driver's license with a passenger endorsement is required for vehicles seating more than 15 passengers; no special license is required for a 15-passenger van. Drivers must be 21–80 years old. Additional documentation applies to drivers over 75, and drivers with known medical conditions must obtain a yearly underwriter-approved Physician's Statement. Candidates must have a clean driving record with no at-fault accidents or traffic citations within the last five years, pass a background check and Motor Vehicle Report, and complete drug and/or alcohol testing as required. Testing may occur before employment, through annual random tests, and following traffic accidents. The driver transports children and LifeWise volunteers, follows traffic laws, maintains vehicle cleanliness and mechanical safety, performs regular inspections, and refuels the vehicle as needed. The driver also creates a safe environment for children by enforcing safety rules, assisting students with entering or exiting as needed, demonstrating a calm and caring demeanor, and remaining aware of students who need help or are misbehaving. Volunteering in the LifeWise classroom may be agreed upon with the Director.
