A VDC Manager serves as the Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Champion for their local office. As such they are expected to take a leadership role in local VDC implementation efforts. This includes directly supporting pursuits and projects, assisting in the development and implementation of VDC guidelines and standards, as well as initiating and supporting VDC initiatives. At Skanska we refer to VDC as the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes to enhance construction. VDC Managers work under the guidance and with the support of their local VDC Regional Director.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience with VDC in construction
  • Proficient in BIM authoring with Autodesk Revit Architecture, Structure and MEP.
  • Highly proficiency in Autodesk Navisworks for construction analyses such as coordination and clash prevention, quantity takeoff and 4D simulation is required.
  • Able to read drawings, specifications, building codes, and other technical product and material specifications, as well as interpret and manage VDC contractual obligations and responsibilities.
  • A thorough understanding of common building systems as well as related means and methods.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or a related field or 8 years equivalent experience plus minimum 7 years prior relevant experience.
  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Skanska employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.
  • Skanska does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g. H-1B status)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with other authoring platforms such as ArchiCAD, Tekla, AutoCAD, Microstation, Autodesk Fabrication, Autodesk Inventor, CAD-Duct and related tools is desirable.
  • Experience with other BIM analysis and construction management tools such as Autodesk BIM 360 Glue and Field, Synchro, Solibri, Tekla CM, etc., is also desirable.
  • Expertise with construction coordination processes is strongly preferred
