About The Position

VIATechnik is seeking a VDC Manager, Mechanical & Plumbing for a remote role within the United States. This position is crucial for leading digital initiatives in the built environment, specifically focusing on mechanical and plumbing systems. The role involves leveraging VDC and BIM from design through construction and fabrication to enhance efficiency, precision, and reduce waste and costs for trade contractors. The VDC Manager will be responsible for digital leadership that improves constructability, reduces risk, and drives better decisions in the field. This role is ideal for a VDC professional ready to move into broader technical and people leadership, influencing standards, and partnering with clients and trade contractors on complex projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, or a similar discipline
  • 5+ years of experience providing implementation, training, and support in BIM and VDC
  • Experience working for a plumbing and/or mechanical trade contractor
  • Managed 2-3 detailers
  • Experience in combining and coordinating BIM updates, running clash detection on revised components and communicating results to internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience modeling, drafting, producing drawings, and reading mechanical and plumbing plans
  • Capability to work effectively in a self-directed way within an extremely fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts
  • Proactive and flexible attitude; willingness to take an "all hands on deck" approach
  • Ability to work some early/late hours to coordinate with project teams in other countries
  • Experience in leading online meetings and training sessions across remote project teams using platforms
  • Experience with software such as AutoCAD MEP and/or Fabrication CADMEP
  • US work authorization is required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end BIM/VDC execution for multiple mechanical and plumbing projects, ensuring models are coordinated, constructible, and aligned with construction sequencing from early design through the field.
  • Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing VDC team that can deliver consistent quality across concurrent projects and time zones.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients and trade partners, using BIM insights to proactively resolve issues, guide decisions, and improve project outcomes.
  • Advance BIM/VDC standards, training, and innovation by improving workflows, sharing best practices, and piloting new digital or AI-enabled approaches that raise efficiency and quality.
