About The Position

VIATechnik is seeking a VDC Manager for Mechanical & Plumbing to lead digital execution for mechanical and plumbing systems in commercial and industrial construction. This remote role requires US work authorization and involves managing distributed teams, influencing BIM/VDC standards, and partnering with clients and trade contractors. The goal is to improve constructability, reduce risk, and drive better decisions before work begins in the field, addressing the increasing complexity, speed, and coordination demands of modern construction. This is an opportunity for a VDC professional to move into broader technical and people leadership, with potential for long-term growth into senior VDC leadership or strategic digital delivery roles.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in BIM and VDC implementation, training, and support, preferably with a plumbing and/or mechanical trade contractor.
  • Experience managing 2-3 detailers.
  • Experience in combining and coordinating BIM updates, running clash detection on revised components, and communicating results to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience modeling, drafting, producing drawings, and reading mechanical and plumbing plans.
  • Capability to work effectively in a self-directed way within an extremely fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Proactive and flexible attitude; willingness to take an "all hands on deck" approach.
  • Ability to work some early/late hours to coordinate with project teams in other countries.
  • Experience in leading online meetings and training sessions across remote project teams using platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end BIM/VDC execution for multiple mechanical and plumbing projects, ensuring models are coordinated, constructible, and aligned with construction sequencing from early design through the field.
  • Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing VDC team that can deliver consistent quality across concurrent projects and time zones.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients and trade partners, using BIM insights to proactively resolve issues, guide decisions, and improve project outcomes.
  • Advance BIM/VDC standards, training, and innovation by improving workflows, sharing best practices, and piloting new digital or AI-enabled approaches that raise efficiency and quality.
