About The Position

This internship is open to undergraduate students interested in gaining hands-on practical experience in the construction field with a specialization in Virtual Building practices and Digital Technologies. Qualified applicants will assist our VDC and project teams through all phases of a project—from initiation through turnover. Assignments include office and job site; relocation to remote-sites may be required. Transportation is required. Work periods are 10-12 weeks; 40 hours/week. Housing may be provided in certain situations.

Requirements

Undergraduate student status.
Interest in construction field with specialization in Virtual Building practices and Digital Technologies.
Transportation is required.
Ability to work 10-12 week periods.
Ability to work 40 hours/week.

Responsibilities

Assist VDC and project teams through all phases of a project.
Learn how technology enhances construction processes.
Gain technical aspects of the project both in the field and in the office.
Perform VDC-Specific Tasks including 3D Modeling for various use cases (Site Logistics Planning, 3D printing, VR/AR/MR, Virtual Mock-ups, Existing Conditions Documentation), Rendering and animations, Creating phasing and 4D scheduling animations, 5D Model Quantity Takeoffs, Assisting with Reality Capture and Laser Scanning, Assisting with a Project’s Virtual Building Program for 3D coordination, Working closely with Architect, Engineers and Owners to mitigate construction conflicts, Supporting Prefabrication and Offsite construction practices, Using a total station for digital layout, Creating composite drawings for submittal and contract requirements, Developing 3D as-built deliverables, Assisting with Integrated Digital Turnover and digital twin development.
Perform General Construction Tasks including Writing RFIs, Responding to subcontractor RFIs, Interfacing with subcontractors, Attending weekly meetings, Assisting with reviewing construction documents & specifications, Assisting with reviewing all document revisions & clarifications, Assisting with quality control & safety, Punchlist & project closeout, Cooperating & working with field project management, and other assigned duties.
