About The Position

The VDC Coordinator will be part of a project team working in a fast-paced environment with project managers, superintendents, and engineers on-site. This role involves collaborating with the VDC Leadership team to build and manage a BIM Execution Plan and VDC implementation strategy. The coordinator will understand owner BIM / Employers Information Requirements (EIR) and use a custom suite of software tools to prepare BIM model-based deliverables. They will have the freedom to develop project-specific workflows utilizing BIM data for various project phases including estimating, logistics, planning, scheduling (4D), coordination, field layout, and facilities management. The role includes developing solutions with project stakeholders by performing model-based design and constructability reviews, clash detection, and visualization. The VDC Coordinator will manage and maintain BIM data generated from various sources throughout design and construction, take ownership of coordination meetings, and generate drawings from the BIM. They will also manage the development of Revit models for COBie data and conduct VR walkthroughs. Collaboration with design and field teams is crucial for tracking progress, contributing to schedules, and identifying potential coordination issues. The VDC Coordinator will act as a subject matter expert for design software and BIM-related issues, facilitate reality capture using LiDAR, Drones, and 360 Photography, and mentor project teams on construction technology. Participation in software testing, R&D, and personal/professional growth is expected, as is contributing to the VDC community and EllisDon's innovation in the construction industry. The role also involves building BIM Execution Plans, developing BIM-specific scope in tender documents, and using 3D modeling skills for architectural, structural, MEP, and construction logistics elements.

Requirements

University degree/Technology Diploma in Engineering, Architecture, M&E or related field.
3-5 years of professional experience with focus on BIM Management, MEP model Coordination preferably on site.
Advanced experience in Revit including interoperability tools, AutoCAD and Navisworks is required.
Experience working with Microsoft 365, Adobe Acrobat and/or Bluebeam.
High level of knowledge interpreting design and construction drawings.
Passionate about the construction industry and innovation.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
Excellent organization, time management skills, and attention to detail.
Self motivated, passionate, innovative, and creative.
Ability to interact with external entities (clients, owners, agencies) to interpret and understand desired BIM or CAD delivery requirements.
Experience developing technical information and presentation material.
Ability to travel or commute to project site.

Nice To Haves

Design build experience on healthcare projects would be an asset.
Experience in 3D laser scanning, 360 photography, and Lidar would be an asset.
Experience working with COBie data would be an asset.
Experience with ISO 19650 standards would be an asset.
Experience in Autodesk Construction Cloud, cmBuilder, and Fuzor are considered an asset.
3D Modelling experience considered as an asset.
BIM-related training or certifications considered an asset (Building Transformations, BuildingSMART).
RPAS (Drone) operator Certification (Or the ability to achieve) to operate drones on our project sites.
Experience with drone deploy would be an asset.

Responsibilities

Be a part of a project team working in a fast paced environment with project managers, superintendents, and engineers on-site.
Collaborate with VDC Leadership team to build and manage a BIM Execution Plan and VDC implementation strategy.
Understand the owner BIM / Employers Information Requirements (EIR) and use a custom suite of software tools to prepare BIM model-based deliverables.
Develop project specific workflows that utilize BIM data for estimating, logistics, planning, scheduling (4D), coordination, field layout, and facilitates management.
Develop solutions with the project stakeholders by performing model based design and constructability review, clash detection and visualization.
Manage and maintain BIM data generated from various sources throughout design and construction.
Take ownership over coordination meetings with designers, trades, and suppliers including chairing meetings and writing agendas & meeting minutes.
Generate drawings for sleeving and, logistics, ect. from the BIM using standardized details and workflows occasionally.
Manage and the development of Revit models to contain COBie data for asset management.
Conduct VR walkthroughs of the future built asset with the client to address design concerns.
Work with closely with the design teams to develop the building design throughout various stages of design milestones and ensuring compliance to Project information requirements and BIM standards.
Work closely with the field team using the intelligent building models to track the progress on site and contribute on the overall project schedules and plans.
Proactively identifying potential coordination issues and act as a subject matter expert for design software products & BIM related issues while maintaining best practices.
Facilitate reality capture, utilizing LiDAR, Drones, and 360 Photography for model integration, QA/QC, analysis, and visualization.
Help your project team navigate the expanding world of construction technology by teaching and mentoring them as they learn new software and workflows.
Participate in software testing, R&D initiatives and continue personal and professional growth.
