Requirements

  • Proven experience in mechanical systems design, with a focus on BIM coordination.
  • Proficiency in BIM software, particularly in managing and coordinating 3D models for MEP disciplines.
  • Familiarity with construction methods and building codes.
  • Effective communication skills, including verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and collaborate in a team-based environment.
  • Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines using multitasking skills on several projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Understand assembly techniques and how they impact on the design and development of products.
  • Hands on field experience in mechanical contracting industry.
  • Bilingual written and oral proficiency in English and French.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret plans and specifications, aid in assessment of engineering documents to provide efficient, and economical application of mechanical designs.
  • Prepare mechanical system designs, fabrication, and co-ordination drawings with the design team.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers to ensure design work carried out meets the project requirements while not exceeding the design specifications of the equipment being provided.
  • Coordinate design issues with project team.
  • Work closely with consultants and customers to provide new mechanical solutions and develop project design documentation to meet their project team.
  • Ensure models are accurate, compliant with project specifications, and ready for efficient installation.
  • Provide detailed design workload reports to the VDC Manager to ensure appropriate staffing is maintained to accomplish the work at hand.
  • Work closely with our construction team to provide proper sleeving and pre-fabrication drawings.
  • Conduct site visits to ensure accuracy of drawings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the project and team needs.
  • Support the VDC Manager in maintaining quality standards across mechanical models.
